VP Osinbajo’s Twitter Account Recovered After Failed Hack

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has recovered his official Twitter page after a failed attempt to take over the account by suspected hackers.

Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media Publicity, Laolu Akande, announced in a tweet on Saturday that the Vice President’s office had contacted Twitter and that the account is being recovered from the hackers.

“Yesterday, there were failed external attempts to gain unauthorized access to the Vice President’s Twitter Account. Since, we have been in contact with Twitter, securing the account, and forestalling a reoccurrence. The VP will continue to actively communicate with our citizens,” said Akande.

Osinbajo’s Twitter account (@ProfOsinbajo) which has over 2 million followers had disappeared from the micro-blogging platform on Friday.

As of the time of filling this report, the profile and background images of Vice President’s twitter account display the default images that accompany a brand-new page.

While Osinbajo’s 2.1 million followers can still be seen on the recovered account, all the tweets and likes on the account are inaccessible.
