WHO: Over 1000 Health Workers Infected With Covid-19 In Africa

The World Health Organization (WHO), Africa Region, has called for the protection of health workers, as they work towards the recoveries of covid-19 patients.

“About 1000 health workers in Africa have been infected with COVID19”, the World Health Organization (WHO), Africa Region tweeted on Tuesday.

WHO also stated that most of them were nurses, adding that nurses were essential in keeping communities healthy.

WHO stressed that hospitals must be fully equipped so as to adequately contain any eventuality from the Coronavirus pandemic.

Also, it urged governments and relevant stakeholders to ensure that nurses have everything they need to do their job well and not get infected while working.

“Stakeholders must ensure that nurses have the supplies and equipment they need to deliver care safely.

WHO had warned that the possibility of spike in Covid-19 cases would be high if the continent failed to strengthen its health system.
