WHO Urges Governments To Invest In Health Workers To Save Lives

The World Health Organization (WHO) has advised governments to invest in their health workers because of the work they do to protect lives.

WHO’s director-general, Tedros Ghebreyesus, disclosed this on Monday, in Geneva.

“One of the lessons that we learn from covid-19 is that we must invest in health workers, not only to protect lives but also to protect livelihood, ” he said.

He also said that the organization would specially celebrate nurses and midwives at Tuesday’s ‘World Health Day’.

According to him, those category of health staff are the backbone of every health establishment in the world

“They are there from the first moment of life to the last.

“Tommorow, we are publishing our report on the state of the world’s nursing; which highlights gaps and makes recommendations for all countries,” he said.
