Wike Congratulates Buhari For Victory Over Atiku At Presidential Tribunal

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari following the affirmation of his victory by the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday.

A five-man panel of the tribunal led byJustice Mohammed Garba had dismissed the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, which challenged Buhari’s victory in the February 23, 2019 presidential election.

The tribunal said the PDP and Atiku failed to prove that Buhari did not gain majority of lawful votes at the poll.

The tribunal also said the petitioners failed to produce eyewitnesses to back the claims for which they sought invalidation of Buhari’s victory.

Governor Wike, who is a member of the PDP, congratulated Buhari who contested the election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor who reacted to the tribunal ruling in a statement by his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu, urged President Buhari to use his victory to work for all Nigerians “irrespective of their political leanings.”
