‘We Will Fight Till The Last Minute To Beat Super Eagles’, Cameroon Coach Says

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will seek redemption when they face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying clash in Yaounde on Monday, according to comments credited to Coach Hugo Broos.

Goals from China-based duo Odion Ighalo and captain Mikel Obi, Chelsea star Victor Moses and new Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho sealed a memorable 12th win in 20 outings for the Eagles against the Lions and further enhance their chances of picking a ticket to Russia from Group B of the African qualifiers.

As a result of the comprehensive victory, the Super Eagles are on verge of picking the World Cup Ticket with a win in Yaounde, combined with a win or draw for Algeria against Zambia in the other Group B match on Tuesday.

As for Cameroon coach Hugo Broos, the Belgian has admitted that his side’s hopes of reaching the World Cup are gone after the heavy loss in Uyo.

“There is no pressure anymore on Monday, Nigeria have nine points, we have two points,” Broos explained.

“But there is only an honour to defend, there is no importance to this. I just hope my players will have the same mentality that I have – that they will fight on Monday till the last minute – to beat Nigeria.

“If we had won this game, we would have a chance, but we lost it and I hope everyone will learn from this.”

The match is scheduled to hold around 6p.m local time, at the Stade Omnisports Ahmaduo-Ahidjo Yaoundé.
