You Are Not Invincible To Coronavirus- WHO Warns Youths

The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged young people across the world to be wary about the coronavirus infection, adding that they should not move about carelessly.

WHO’s Director General, Tedros Adhanom disclosed this on Friday, at a press briefing in Geneva.

“Today, I have a message for young people: you are not invincible, this virus can put you in hospital for weeks or even kill you.

“Even if you don’t get sick, the choices you make about where you go could be the difference between life and death for someone else,” Adhanom said.

Recall that WHO had recommended social distancing as one of the ways to defeat the coronavirus menace.

He also said that data from other countries clearly shows that people under 50 years make up a significant portion of patients requiring hospitalization.

But he also lauded other youths who are creating awareness about the pandemic, adding that with solidarity, the scourge of the virus would end.

He said that Wuhan China (which has not recorded any case since Thursday) provides hope for the rest of the world, adding that the most severe situations can be turned around.

“Every loss of life is a tragedy; it is also a motivation to double down and do everything we can to stop transmission and save lives,” he added.

Recall that 210,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported and with more than 9,000 people losing their lives.
