Mother, Six Children Found Dead At Home In Osun

There was pandemonium on Tuesday when residents of Ogbeso via Oke-Suna area, Apomu town in the Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State found a woman and her six children dead at their residence.

It was gathered that the woman was a divorcee who got married to a policeman. The policeman, identified simply as Saheed, was said to be unconscious when neighbours broke into the house and found others dead.

The woman was said to be the owner of the house and was living there with her six children after her first marriage collapsed.

The policeman who lives in the same house with the woman was said to be the only survivor as at the time of filing this report.

Sources in the community told journalists on Tuesday that the groaning of the man attracted some neighbours who forced the door open and discovered that those who went to bed hale and hearty the previous night were all dead except the policeman.

There were claims that somebody entered into the house and sprayed a poisonous chemical on them while some said they might have been killed by generator fume but no generator was found there.

A source who identified himself as Salau said, ” Eight of them slept in the house and the woman and her six children died. The man ( the woman’s new husband) did not die but he was very weak when they found them this morning. The six children were products of the woman’s first marriage.

” Some are saying they were sprayed with chemical but I know autopsy will reveal the cause of the deaths.

” Many of their immediate neighbours have fled their houses because you know the police may want to start arbitrary arrest. Everybody is just being careful.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

She said, “Seven members of the same family were found dead this morning in Apomu. One of them was rescued and he is now responding to treatment.
