EndSARS: Buhari Will Take Action-Presidential Aide

The Presidency on Friday says it has received briefings on the ongoing campaign to end the operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the country.

An aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed this in a series of tweets on Friday.

Ahmad noted that the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed on Thursday briefed President Buhari on the ongoing End SARS protest across the country.

He also assured Nigerians that the president would “take an action in the best interest of Nigerians.”

“Good people of Nigeria have every right to protest the #PoliceBrutality or anything they see is not going on well.

“The President was briefed yesterday by the IG of Police, I am very sure action will be taken and in the best interest of Nigerians. #EndSARSProtests,” Ahmad said.

As of Friday, October 9, 2020, the demand to end SARS had gathered momentum with groups expressing intention to protest both in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The campaign, which kicked off on social media, has gained over 2.2 million tweets, topping the chart as the most trending issue globally.
