2019 Presidency: Shehu Sani Faults Signing Of Peace Accord By Buhari, Atiku, Others

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central senatorial district at the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has suggested that the peace accord being signed by presidential candidates was a mere formality.

Senator Sani noted that peace accord should be signed on a round table with handshake, smiles and not on a parallel table.

He also noted that some of the politicians attacked each other immediately after signing the accord.

The peace accord, arranged by the National Peace Committee, was called for all political parties to be of good behaviour during elections.

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was the first to put pen to paper on Tuesday.

Buhari was followed by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Oby Ezekwesili who signed on Wednesday.

He tweeted, “Peace is signed by adversaries on a roundtable, with a handshake, a smile and low volume soul music.

“And not on parallel tables, with hand gloves, a grimace and high volume war songs.”
