2023: Atiku/Soludo Campaign Posters Sign Of Desperation– APGA Supporters

Ahead of 2023 general elections and the 2021 governorship primaries in Anambra State scheduled for this month, the Atiku/Soludo campaign posters have flooded the streets of Abuja.

The posters which appeared in different designs and locations claim that only the Atiku/Soludo alliance can rescue Nigeria from the brink of collapse.

While Atiku Abubakar is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, Charles Soludo belong to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)

Efforts to reach the APGA National Headquarters on Sunday when the posters emerged proved abortive as only stern looking security guards and some young persons who claimed to be youth leaders of the party were at the Secretariat when our correspondent went there.

However, the youths said the move by the Soludo campaign for an alliance with Atiku so as to vie for the Vice President of the country and mortgage the governorship seat of Anambra State was a desperate move capable of sending APGA into extinction.

They claimed the rumours had been in the air for a long time that Soludo’s main aim of running for the governorship seat of Anambra was to avail him a platform to run for the office of VP of the country.

“Soludo should have joined PDP and contested for the governorship of Anambra if he thinks he is popular. Why use APGA popularity in Anambra State to go and join PDP Presidential ticket?

“We will resist it and we shall be submitting our petition to the National Chairman tomorrow to call for the disqualification of Prof. Soludo.

” This is a clear case of anti-party activity and the height of selfish ambitions,” Mr. Okeke Kenneth, who is the leader of APGA Ambassadors said.

He said APGA has suffered immensely from the hands of” “political gatecrashers” who often run to the party, rely on her popularity to win elections and then leave.

He cited former Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who won the governorship election of Imo State on the platform of the party and then defected to the APC.

He also listed Hon. Herman Hembe from Benue State, who won election into the House of Representatives and defected to APC and also the Imo State Speaker, Hon. Chiji Collins, who, alongside other members of the Imo State House of Assembly, defected from the party within months of winning elections.

He claimed that APGA Ambassadors would do all within their powers to see that only a core APGA man, not a defector or a gatecrasher would be given the ticket of the party.

Also speaking, Mr. Ben Okafor, an APGA ambassador, said with the latest position, APGA would lose the governorship seat if Prof. Soludo is presented as the candidate of the party as Ndi Anambra, who are 100% APGA.

He said that they are very angry with this development and will not trust him not to defect with the governorship seat to seek his selfish ambition.

He said Gov. Willie Obiano has done so much for the party and entrenched APGA in the minds of Anambra voters with his good works and that APGA cannot afford to lose Anambra due to the choice of a wrong candidate, claiming that they would work hard to return APGA yet again.

He wondered if the governor and the national chairman knew of the alleged anti party plot of Soludo as his outright disqualification from the race would be the saving grace for the party.
