Abia Speaker Extols ‘Rare Attributes’ Of Deputy Gov Oko Chukwu

The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Oko Chukwu, has received plaudits from the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, for his unwavering loyalty to his boss, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Chinedum described Chukwu’s dedication to the Ikpeazu administration as a “rare attribute” in politics.

The Speaker spoke when the Ohafia Council of Traditional Rulers thrilled the deputy governor to a grand reception at the weekend in Ohafia town, Ohafia Local Government Area of the state.

Chinedum said by proving himself to be a trustworthy partner to Governor Ikpeazu despite distractions from his adversaries, the deputy governor has earned his respect.

The Speaker urged Chukwu to continue on that path, assuring him that if his loyalty “doesn’t pay today, it will pay tomorrow”.

“Stand solidly behind him (Governor Ikpeazu) on all sides. Defend him at all times so that God will know that you have played your roles, that you have shown loyalty and loyalty will continue to follow you,” he said.

Chinedum further counselled Chukwu’s constituents in Ohafia and Abia North to see him as an asset that should be jealously guarded by them, adding that petitions allegedly being written to pull him down were needless.

“Let’s rally round one of our own instead of pulling the person down because by the time you pull him down, it will be difficult to have another Ude Oko Chukwu. Then you will begin from scratch.

“Other areas that have personalities like him build on such people. They rally them .But when we come to our place, we write petitions against such persons. By the time you pull the person down, you do not have any other personality to rally round. I want to encourage Ohafia people to continue with their support to the Deputy Governor. Give him solid support in the days ahead,” he said.
