AFCON 2023: Tinubu Confers Super Eagles Players With MON Awards, Flats, Plot Of Land

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has honoured every member of the Super Eagles team with the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) following their silver medal-winning outing at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations.

The players and the officials of the team were hosted at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday afternoon two days after they lost to Ivory Coast 2-1.

The delegation was led by the Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh and top members of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

The president also granted a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a flat to each of the players and officials for their impressive performance in Ivory Coast.

All the members of the team were in attendance including Alex Iwobi, who has been a subject of cyber bullying on social media since the team lost the final on Sunday.

Tinubu also showered encomiums on the team for their resilience, sportsmanship and can-do attitude while also thanking them for lifting the nation’s spirit with their performance in Ivory Coast.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike presented the members of the team with forms to fill out to claim their gifts of land and apartments.

The Super Eagles players are expected to return to their respective clubs before weekend and they will be back in National team duties in the FIFA international friendly window in March.

The Super Eagles are expected to be in action against Argentina in China on yet to be revealed date.
