Akwa Ibom Will Have A Refinery Under My Presidency- Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has assured the people of Akwa Ibom State that he would site a refinery in the state if elected president of Nigeria.

Abubakar, who made the promise yesterday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo during the PDP presidential campaign rally, noted that his desire to restructure the country would bring enormous benefits to the state.

He was accompanied by his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi, and other top party chieftains, including former governor of Cross River State, Mr. Liyel Imoke, the party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, among others.

The PDP presidential flag bearer further noted that landmark development projects in the state were achieved under successive PDP administrations and so he urged the people to support the party to return to power at the centre and all levels of governance in the state.

He said: “I have been coming to this state since 1998. Every development you are seeing here is the work of PDP – the schools, the hospitals, the roads, the factories and many others.

“Believe me, you will progress more if you continue to be PDP. Therefore, I admonish you to continue to remain PDP.”

The candidate pleaded with the people of the state not to allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) steal their votes as doing so would amount to destroying the future of the state.

“They stole your economy; don’t allow them steal your votes,” he added.

Governor Udom Emmanuel said an Atiku presidency would restore the economy, provide jobs for the unemployed and protect the country’s future.

According to the governor, Akwa Ibom was and will remain a PDP state, even as he boasted that the party would win all elective positions.

Secondus slammed the APC-led Federal Government for destroying democracy through its constant breaches of the constitution and conflicts with other arms of government.
