Alao-Akala Tackles Makinde For Calling Past Governors Charlatans

A former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said it is uncharitable for Governor Seyi Makinde to call his predecessors charlatans.

He said such unkind word should.not be used by a governor, whose office is held in high esteem by the people.

Alao-Alaka, said this in Iseyin on Thursday while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of empowerment programme by the lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial District at the Senate, Senator Fatai Buhari.

Alao-Akala.spoke when asked to react to what Makinde said in Ogbomoso on Wednesday that the state would never again be governed by charlatans .

The former governor, who is from Ogbomoso said it was unfair for the governor to have use such a derogatory word to refer to his predecessors.

He said, “I don’t believe he ( Makinde) said that. But if he said that, he made a mistake. You don’t address your predecessors as charlatans.

” You don’t do that. It is not statemanly to use such a word. You just have to talk like a statesman.

“You would see the way we have been addressing him. None of us who has been in that office before has ever said that he is not doing very well.

“He is doing his best. The best may not be enough for the people. When it is time for campaign, we will campaign. But don’t use that word ‘charlatan’ it was unstatesmanly for him to have said that.”
