The $43 million cash haul uncovered by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) belongs to transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has alleged.
THE WHISTLER recalls that the staggering sum of $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 was on Wednesday intercepted by the anti-graft agency at Osborne Towers, a luxury residential complex in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Reports had earlier emerged that the huge sum belongs to the National Intelligence Agency of Nigeria (NIA).
“I can authoritatively tell you that money belongs to the NIA. The DG has come forward to claim it and has informed my office of the development. He is furious with Magu for his agency’s recklessness and for compromising their operations,” an online platform, THE WILL had quoted a top government official as saying.
But Fani-Kayode, who made the allegation on Friday, explained that both the $43 million and the flat where it was found belong to Rotimi Amaechi.
The former aviation minister further described as “fake news”, reports attributing the said cash haul to the NIA.
“The $43 million is Rotimi Amaechi’s.He owns the flat it was found in too.NIA story is fake news! NIA does not keep cash in Minister’s flats!,” Fani-Kayode tweeted.
