Anambra Police Arrest Robbery Suspect For Snatching N3.5 Million

Police in Anambra State have arrested an armed robbery suspect for allegedly snatching a bag containing N3,500,000 in a one-man robbery operation.

The state police public relations officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, told THE WHISTLER  in Awka that, “At at about 1:33pm, on Monday, police operatives attached to the Department of Operations, Awka, stationed at Regina Ceali junction by Zenith Bank Plc, along Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Awka, responded to a distress call of armed robbery where a hoodlum armed with an automatic pump action rifle and firing indiscriminately allegedly snatched a bag containing the sum of N3,500,000 cash from one Ebuka Ukeakpu.”

He gave the name of the suspect as one Chukwuemeka Afor, ‘m’, aged 25, a native of Akpugo in Nkanu South Local Government Area of Enugu State, stating that he was almost lynched by a mob, but for the quick intervention of the police.

According to SP Mohammed, four persons were hit by stray pellets discharged by the suspect during his solo operation, adding that they were rushed to the Police Hospital, Awka.

He said the case was being investigated after which the suspect(s) would be prosecuted.
