Another Diesel Tanker Accident Rocks Elelewon Axis Of Rivers

A diesel tanker has been involved in a ghastly accident along the Elelewon axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, just a week after a similar incident occurred in the Rumuosi axis in the same council.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the accident, but a high-tension pole serving the area was destroyed after a series of sparks emanated from the accident.

Eyewitnesses reported that residents in their numbers rushed to the scene to scoop diesel before security agencies arrived to stop the scooping.

An official of the State Ministry of Special Duties was on the ground to ensure that law and order were maintained.

Speaking on behalf of the commissioner, Gibson Oporoma, a senior officer of the state ministry of special duties, stated that the ministry was working to ensure normalcy returned to the area.

“There was no casualty of any kind, and all safety measures were maintained,” Oporoma added.

The chief security officer of the Elelewon community, Ezegina Chinda, also confirmed that the leadership of the community was on the ground to ensure peace was maintained in the area.

Emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, firefighters, the Nigeria Police Force, NOSDRA, and a standby ambulance, were deployed to the scene to address any potential disasters resulting from the incident.

This latest accident raises concerns about the safety of roads in the area and the need for urgent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
