Ayefele Storms Oyo Govt House, Meets Ajimobi Over Music House Demolition

Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday met with gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele.

Both men met for the first time since the singer’s ‘Music House’, valued at N800 million was demolished by the Oyo state government.

According to reports, the meeting was about the demolition of the singer’s music house.

Recall that THE WHISTLER reported how the “music house”, which houses Ayefele’s radio station, Fresh FM Ibadan, was demolished in the early hours of Sunday.

The move which sparked outrage across the country, was condemned by many, as some accused the government of not taking into cognizance the physical state of the musician, who has been on a wheelchair for the most part of his life.

But the state commissioner for information, Toye Arulogun, had said the building violated the originally approved plan of the area, noting that it is “structurally defective (and) poses danger or constitutes a nuisance to the occupier or the general public”.

Ajimobi had equally defended the demolition, saying being physically challenged is not an excuse to break the law.

“Just like the house they said we demolished, that man didn’t obey the law, now. People are now saying because he’s physically challenged; so if one is physically challenged, then he should break the law?” Ajimobi told BBC Yoruba.

“They said he employed people, are armed robbers not employers of labour too? Should we now say because armed robbers employ people, they should continue to rob and terrorise others?

“We have to obey the law.”
