Barcelona Can’t Register Messi, Aguero, Other New Signings Over La Liga Salary Limit

Barcelona FC have not been able to register any new signings including Memphis Depay, Sergio Agüero, Eric García and Emerson Royal as they have exceeded the La Liga salary limit.

Lionel Messi’s contract with the Catalan giants expired in July and they are hoping to get a deal that would help the six-time Ballon d’Or winner stay at the club.

But the big challenge is that they may not be able to register Messi even if he agrees to a deal.

“We want him to stay, Leo wants to stay and we are looking for the best formula,” Barca President Joan Laporta said.

La Liga President Javier Tebas in June warned that the Catalan club could fail to register Messi if they fail to reduce their wage bill.

La Laga’s new salary cap is €382.7m and Barcelon need to reduce its wage bill by €200m to register all its new players.

The club have so far sold Junior Firpo, Konrad de la Fuente, Trincao and Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Goal.com.

The club also plans to sell Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho and Miralem Pjanic.
