Benin Market Fire Victims To Get Relief Materials – Sadiya Umar Farouq

The Minister for Humanitrain Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, says her ministry is working in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials to traders who lost property at the Oba market fire in Benin, Edo State.

Farouq stated this in a condolence message to the traders on Tuesday on her twitter handle.

The tweet reads “HM @sadiya_farouq and her team @fmhdsd commisserate with traders who lost property and wares at the Oba market fire in Benin.

“We are working with @NEMAnigeria to provide relief materials.”

Her response comes shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari also ordered a thorough probe of the incident.

According to the Federal Fire Service, the inferno started on Monday midnight, with the agency battling to put it out.

It was said that wailing traders lost many shops and goods valued in millions of naira to the inferno.

The fire service  Zone K had tweeted, “At about 1:00hrs this morning Men of Federal Fire Service Zone K Edo command turned out to combat a raging inferno at Oba market ring road Benin city Edo State.

“In attendance are Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force NPDC, and UNIBEN fire service.”
