Borno Governor To Resettle Farming Communities

In order to achieve food security, Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has assured farmers in the state that his government would give them all the necessary support in order to make them go back to farming.

Zulum made the pledge on Tuesday when he met with farmers during a tour of communities on the shores of Lake Alau in Konduga and Jere Local Government Areas of the state.

The government has a programme of “back to farm initiative.”

A statement posted on Wednesday on the governor’s official facebook page, said the initiative has targetted about 28 communities in the shores of Lake Alau in its first phase.

According to the statement, the governor personally held interaction with several farmers, who were either clearing or planting seeds in their various farmlands.

The statement quoted the governor as saying “Our intention is to resettle all the 28 communities around this place, we have built trenches from Dalori up to Molai. We are in consultation with the military, insha Allah all the communities will go back to their localities soon.”

He assured that government would support farmers in order to assist them go back to their farmlands.

“This is a singular act that will make our people happy and food sufficient, we shall insha Allah give all the necessary support to our people to go back to their farms,” Zulum said.

Furthermore, the statement added that the governor was Meanwhile was presented with an award by the commander 251 taskforce battalion in appreciation of his support to the Nigerian military.
