Announcing his defection, the Senate President said: “I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

According to reports, Abdullahi’s defection from the APC was in show of solidarity to the Senate President whose exit from the ruling party had been fervently debated in media for some time now.

It was learnt that the APC spokesperson had since last Tuesday moved his belongings and those of his Special Assistant, Julius Ogunro, out of the National Secretariat of the ruling party ahead of he and Saraki’s defection.

Mr Bolaji’s body language of late was said to have caused for concerns among the APC leadership as the one-time fiery spokesperson had suddenly turned cold towards defending the ruling party or responding to media inquiries on happenings in the party.
