BREAKING: Arewa Youths Shelve Igbo Eviction Order, Beg For Forgiveness

The coalition of three northern groups which called for the expulsion of Igbo from the northern part of the country has made a surprise u-turn on their threat.

In a video released on Thursday, Comrade Yerima Shettima, President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, and Isaac Balami, Arewa Consultative Forum Congress’ President, appealed to Nigerians and called for a peace meeting with the Igbos.

According to the video obtained by THE WHISTLER, the leaders called for calm and regretted their initial approach, saying all regions need to work together for peace.

“This is not the time for us to discuss separation. We need to come together. Arewa is known for peace,” Balami said.

“It is obvious that the initial approach was not the best. We need to work together as a nation

“I want to tell Nigerians living at home and in diaspora that there is hope. This nation is going no where.

“Shettima here wants to assure that everything that he has done was in good faith. This is one Nigeria and we are going nowhere.”

It will be recalled that on Tuesday, a coalition of Northern groups, including the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, gave all Igbos resident in the 19 states of the North a three-month ultimatum to quit or be forced out after the expiration of the October 1, 2017 deadline.

“We are also telling our brothers (northerners) out there in the South-East to get prepared to come back home,” the National President, AYCF, Yerima Shettima, said at a press conference in Kaduna.
