BREAKING: COVID-19: FG Restricts Public Gatherings In New Guidelines

Following the resurgence of COVID-19 across Nigeria, the Federal Government has issued fresh guidelines to curtail further spread of the virus.

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, announced the new measures after conclusion of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on Friday.

Osinbajo said the Federal Government would ensure “rigorous and strict enforcement” of the guidelines as the country battles resurgence of the deadly virus.

The Vice President, in a tweet, said the NEC resolved that members of the public must, “Restrict all physical gatherings and instead opt for virtual meetings, whenever possible. If physical meetings must be held, ensure there is adequate ventilation of the room, limit the number of attendees, wear face masks, maintain a physical distance of at least two meters and adhere to other public health measures.”

The announcment came after Nigeria recorded its highest daily cases of COVID-19 in 24 states on Thursday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Thursday, reported that the country recorded 1,145 cases in the last 24 hours.
