‘Huge Relief’ For Buhari As UK Welcomes Release Of Katsina School Boys

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the release of over 300 Katsina schoolboys, saying it was a huge relief for the country and the international community.

Following their return, the president lauded the Katsina State government and the security agencies for the great cooperation that brought about the release of the boys.

He also called on Nigerians to be patient with his administration as he fulfils his campaign promises.

“I welcome the release of the kidnapped students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara. This is a huge relief to the entire country and international community. The entire country is grateful to Governor Masari, the Intelligence Agencies, the Military and the Police Force.

“Our administration is fully aware of the responsibility we have to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians. I ask Nigerians to be patient and fair to us as we deal with the challenges of security, the economy, and corruption. We will not relent,” he tweeted on Thursday.

In its reaction, the United Kingdom Government termed the release of over 300 Katsina State schoolboys as a welcome development.

The UK Government’s Minister for Africa, James Duddridge, who stated this, added that Nigerian children should go to school in a condusive learning environment without fear.

“I welcome the news that the Nigerian schoolboys who were abducted in Katsina have been freed. All children should be able to access an education without fear,” he tweeted.

The boys were abducted last Friday and released six days after.
