Breaking: Gunmen Attack Abia State CID, Free Suspects

Gunmen on Saturday attacked the Abia State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and set the buildings on fire.

A police source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the gunmen stormed the station at about 4pm and shot sporadically into the air.

According to the police officer, “I was just coming to the office to resume work as am on night duty and i have already signed in but before you know it there was commotion outside the station. So, as i came out every officer was scampering for safety as the gunmem gained entrance and set the station ablaze.”

The state CID is located along the Uzoakoli road, Umuagu.

Efforts to speak with the state police public relations officer proved abortive as he did not pick his calls nor replied his messages.
