Messi To Stay In Barcelona For Another Season

The controversy sorrounding the imminent departure of Argentine forward Lionel Messi has been put on hold as the 6- time Ballon D’or winner says he will stay for one more season at Camp Nou.

Messi handed in his transfer request officially to Barcelona after spending nearly 20 years of his playing career with the club.

Sun’s Sports claims that the Argentine will complete his remaining contract year in Barcelona.

His father, Jorge Messi who doubles as his agent, had travelled to Spain to see out transfer negotiations on behalf of his son.

The Sun reports that when the players father and agent was asked whether Messi not leaving the club was a possibility, he said:”Yes”.

Barcelona are insisting that the player still had a year to spend in the club according to the clause embedded in his contract.

The transfer news has attracted a number of European clubs who want to sign him, but it is believed that Manchester City are the favorite.

Report has it that Man City has offered Messi a 623 million pounds deal to land him in the Premiere league side.
