BREAKING: Missing Child: Appeal Court Frees Akure Prophet Facing Life Sentence

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has discharged and acquitted the founder of Sotitobire Praising Church, Prophet Alfa Babatunde.

The Appeal Court set aside the judgement of the Ondo State High court which found the prophet guilty and slammed a life imprisonment verdict on him.

The trial court had sentenced the Prophet to life imprisonment over the disappearance of a 13-month -old boy, Gold Kolawole.

The boy was taken to church by her mother in 2019 and he has not been found since then.

Dissatisfied with the verdict of the trial court, Sotitobire founder filed an appeal and asked the appeal court to quash his life sentence conviction.

The Court of Appeal in a judgment delivered on Friday and read by Justice Gamma Barka held that
the circumstantial evidence the lower court based its judgement was not enough to convict the appellant.

He was therefore discharged and acquitted.
