BREAKING: New Kano Emir Dies

The Emir of Rano in Kano State, Abubakar Tafida, has passed away at the age of 74.

Alhaji Kabiru Alasan, the Turakin Rano and member of the Rano Emirate Council, confirmed the news to journalists on Saturday.

Alasan said the monarch died on Saturday after a brief illness. The Emir was said to receiving treatment at the Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital, Nasarawa, where he died.

Tafida was installed Emir of Rano in 2019, after Governor Abdullahi Ganduje created four new emirate councils from the Kano Emirate Council. He was survived by two wives and 17 children.
