BREAKING: Police Cordon National Assembly, Staff, Journalists Denied Entry

Twenty four hours after workers’ union of the National Assembly sealed off the assembly complex, some operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have condoned off the premises.

Emerging reports indicate that the police officers are preventing entry of staff and journalists into the NASS complex, just a day after the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) commenced a four-day strike over non-payment of their salary arrears and allowances by the NASS leadership.

The officers said to be acting on the orders of the leadership of the National Assembly, have taken strategic positions from the State House entrance to prevent some persons from accessing the legislative premises.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori, told reporters that the move was to “enable members and staff come in and perform their legitimate duties without any hinderance.”

Meanwhile, THE WHISTLER reports that the events are coming ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Wednesday’s visit to the National Assembly for the presentation 2019 Appropriation Bill.
