[UPDATE] Trump Tells Buhari: We’ll Not Take Lightly Killing Of Christians In Nigeria

United States President, Donald Trump, on Monday, told President Muhammadu Buhari in strong terms that the killing of Christians by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria was unacceptable by his country.

Trump, who is currently meeting with President Buhari at the White House, said this before his meeting with the Nigerian President commenced proper.

President Trump frowned specifically at the persistent killing of Christians in Nigeria, saying the United States will not fold its arms and watch innocent lives being wasted by the suspected herdsmen.

“We have had very serious problems with Christians who are being murdered in Nigeria, we are going to be working on that problem very, very hard because we cannot allow that to happen,” Trump had said.

Responding, President Buhari blamed the herdsmen killings on gunmen who penetrated the country from Libya and whom he claims were trained by late Muammar Gadaffi.

Buhari told Trump that the killings in parts of Nigeria, especially Benue and Taraba States, preceded his government and have always been there since time immemorial.

At the ongoing meeting, both presidents will be speaking on the security situation in Nigeria especially in respect to the fight against Boko Haram terrorists and the mounting butchery of innocent citizens by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
