BREAKING: UNILAG VC Removed

The Governing Council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has removed the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.

The UNILAG governing council announced Ogundipe’s removal during its meeting at the National Universities Commission (NUC) headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja.

He was appointed as the vice chancellor of UNILAG in November 2017.

At the meeting presided over by the Pro-Chancellor of UNILAG, Wale Babalakin, seven members of the governing council voted to remove Ogundipe.

Four members of the panel had voted against the VC’s removal while one member voted for his suspension.

The management of the institution had been accused of failing to remit N14.6 billion operating surplus between 2014 and 2018 to the federal government.
