The World Trade Organization (WTO) has floated the photo of Nigeria’s global economist, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on its official Twitter handle ahead of today’s (Monday) appointment of the next WTO Director General.
“Happening now: WTO members meet to consider the appointment of the next WTO Director-General WTODG,” it tweeted.
According to information captured on the advertorial, WTO confirmed that she is the only candidate standing for the top job.
“Selecting the next WTO Director-General. The General Council meets today to decide on the appointment of the next WTO Director-General.
“The final candidate is: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Nigeria),” it tweeted.
Her confirmation sets a new record as she would be the first black woman to hold the position.
