A group of protesters, allegedly from the constituency of the suspended lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin, stormed the National Assembly to request his (Jibrin’s) removal as their representative.

The protesters, from Kiru/Bebeji in Kano state, threw their weight behind the House, declaring their solidarity with the decision to suspend Jibrin.

Leader of the group, Mustapha Mohammed, who stated that the 180 legislative days suspension given Jibrin was too small, said, “We are showing our support to the leadership of the House of Representatives for suspending our member representing Kiru/Bebeji, Abdulmumin Jibrin from attending sitting for 180 legislative days.

“180 days is small, what we want is that, we want to recall that man from representing us, we don’t need him again because he hasn’t done anything for almost five years.

“He’s not respecting his leaders, not even our community so we so our support to the national assembly,” he added.

On whether the group was being sponsored, he said: “If people are saying we are sponsored by other people can you see us? See the mode of our dressing, you can identify that we are from the same place with that man, if you say someone came from Kiru to hire protesters it is unbelievable.

“Going by history Jibrin is not even an indigene of the place, he’s from Akwanga and everyone knows that he’s just tarnishing our image, we have never had a problem till this man came.”
