Chelsea Confirm Conte’s Departure

Chelsea have confirmed the departure of its Italian manager Antonio Conte from Stamford Bridge.

Rumors of the 48-year-old’s departure from Stamford Bridge had circulated across both local and international tabloids on Thursday but both the Club and the Italian had remained silent about it.

But Chelsea in a statement on Friday confirmed the news and announced that Conte had “parted company” with the last season FA cup winners.

“Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company,” the statement read.

“During Antonio’s time at the club, we won our sixth league title and eighth FA Cup. In the title winning season, the club set a then-record 30 wins in a 38-game Premier League season, as well as a club-record 13 consecutive league victories.

“We wish Antonio every success in his future career,” the statement added.

Conte won 69 and drew 20 of his 106 games in charge of the club.

Meanwhile Ex-Napoli manager, Maurizio Sarri is expected to succeed his countryman at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri’s three-year spell at Napoli did not produce any major honour but the 59-year-old guided the Italian club to second, third and second again – behind Juventus in 2017-18. The former Empoli manager was named Serie A Coach of the Year in 2016-17.
