Commotion As Sacked Akwa Ibom Lawmakers Commence Impeachment of Gov. Udom

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Tuesday was thrown into pandemonium as 5 sacked lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met and commenced impeachment proceedings against the state Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.

The Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Onofiok Luke had declared their seat vacant, after they defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the APC.

The five lawmakers are Idongesit Ituen, who represented Itu State Constituency and was sacked by a November 14 ruling of the Uyo Division of the Federal High Court; Nse Ntuen of Essien Udim State Constituency; Gabriel Toby of Etim Ekpo/Ika; Otobong Ndem of Mkpat Enin; Victor Udofia of Ikono, and Idongesit Ituen, who represented Itu State Constituency.

The five lawmakers stormed the Assembly complex with thugs and heavily armed policemen, they were also reportedly seen with the Mace.

But the governor arrived the venue with members of his cabinet and security details at about 10 a.m and pursued the lawmakers out of the assembly premises.
