THE WHISTLER had reported that Nigeria’s first case of Coronavirus was confirmed by the Ministry of Health on Friday.

CAN said that nobody should play politics with the issue, while also urging everyone to support government in containing it.

“We call on our politicians not to politicise it but join hands together to ensure the disease does not spread as we also advocate cooperation and understanding between every state and the Federal Government,” Daramola said.

The Christian umbrella added that government should put adequate measures in place so as to secure the nation.

“CAN calls on the Federal Government and the other tiers of government to be pro-active in order to contain it and prevent its spread,” the statement read.

CAN also said that Nigerians, irrespective of their religious and political persuasions, should embrace simple rules of hygiene regularly for safety reasons.

“They should also follow these professional counsel: avoid panicking, wash hands regularly with water, soap and sanitizers (where available); avoid crowded places and people who are coughing or sneezing, covering of mouths and noses with a handkerchief or tissue while sneezing or coughing as well as avoid self-medication.”

Furthermore, CAN said that churches should follow those guidelines in their meetings beginning from Sunday.

“CAN urges every church to make water, soap and sanitizers available for worshippers before and after service, beginning from tomorrow,” the statement read.
