Court Bars Uche Secondus From Contesting At PDP Convention

The leadership tussle in the nation’s major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party worsened on Friday as a fresh injunction from a high court in Calabar has again barred Prince Uche Secondus from parading himself as the National Chairman of the PDP.

Recall that Secondus stepped down after he was barred, by a high court in Rivers State, from functioning as the party’s chairman.

THE WHISTLER reported that a Kebbi State High Court later returned Secondus to his position while ruling in a suit brought before it by three members of the party: Yahaya Usman, Abubakar Mohammed and Bashar Suleman.

But in what seems to be a twist, Justice Edem Ita Koofreh of Calabar High Court granted an order of interim injunction against the embattled national chairman.

In a suit numbered HC/240/202, filed by one Enang Kanum Wani, the judge also barred Uche Secondus from re-contesting for the postion of National Chairman of the party, and from attending the national executive committee meeting pending the determination of the suit.

The matter has been adjourned to 7/09/2021 for hearing.
