Court Grants Justice Ademola, Wife N100m Bail

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in Maitama, Abuja, has granted Justice Adeniyi Ademola and his wife, Olabowale N50m bail each on self recognition.

The couple was arraigned before Justice Jude Okeke on 11 counts including being in possession of firearms without a valid license, conspiracy to receive gratification and receiving gratification of N30m from Joe Agi and Associates, between March 11 and March 26, 2015.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge. Justice Ademola’s lawyer, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), ‎and another lawyer representing the wife of the judge informed the court that they had filed their applications for bail.

Ruling on the bail application, the trial judge, Justice Judge Okeke held that the couple is expected to provide a bail bond of N50m each.

The Judge further ordered the defendants to surrender their international passports to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Court, pending hearing and determination of the charge against them.

Justice Ademola who hitherto served under the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court before he was asked to temporarily step down from the bench by the National Judicial Council, NJC, after allegations that he received huge sums of money on various dates between 2014 and 2015, following a raid on his home by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS.
