The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has urged DSTV, Star Times and Telecommunication companies in the country to empathize with workers through extension of subscription and offering of free recharge cards to subscribers during the period of the lock down.

The minister said this in a tweet on Monday @fkeyamo, where he appealed to DSTV and Star times to give subscribers free one month subscription as part of their contribution to the fight against the deadly pandemic.

He added that MTN, Glo Airtel and other mobile service providers should consider giving out free airtime to their subscribers during the period of the lockdown.

Keyamo said the gesture would help alleviate the pains of their customers, adding that the free airtime would also help them to meet up in case of emergencies.

“As one of the ministers entrusted with the welfare of Nigerian workers, I politely urge @DStvNg and @StarTimes_Ng to extend all EXISTING subscriptions by at least one month, free-of-charge, as their own contribution to ease the pains of Nigerian workers at this time of lockdown.

“I would also urge @MTNNG, @9mobileng, @AirtelNigeria and @GloWorld to consider giving Nigerians some token airtime & data to ease their pains & to ensure that communication with individuals & authorities is ensured in cases of emergencies, especially when toll-free numbers are busy,” he said.
