Lagos and Kano States have topped the list of 555 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections recorded in Nigeria.
According to figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday Lagos, Kwara and the Ogun recorded 156, 65 and 57 cases, respectively.
The new infections brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 40,532.
The NCDC said the total number of discharged patients were 17,374 while the country recorded 2 more deaths making a total of 85& fatalities from the virus stood as of July 21
The agency had earlier advised members of the public to practice preventive behaviors, to reduce the risk of spreading COVID19 to the elderly and vulnerable in the society by observing physical distancing, wearing a face mask, and washing hands frequently.
NCDC also stated that the virus that causes COVID19 can live on surfaces for several hours, urging Nigerians to limit or avoid sharing personal items, avoid touching high-contact surfaces like door handles and stair rails and ensure that all surfaces are cleaned with soap and water or disinfectants.
