COVID-19: Lagos Leads Again With New Infections As Nigeria Records 1244 New Cases

On Monday the nation recorded 1,244 new cases of COVID-19 in 18 states with Lagos holding over 37 per cent of the total cases.

Lagos has continue to lead other states in number of new cases since the beginning of the second wave of the disease and on Monday recorded 774 new cases.

These figures take the total confirmed cases to 101,331 while individuals who were discharged numbered 461, increasing the recovery tally to 80,491.

Three persons, however, died of COVID-19 complications and now the nation’s death toll climbed to 1,361.

Recall, the Executive Director, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, said the country was reaching a critical level where hospitals may not be able to cope with more serious cases of COVID-19.

Ihekweazu, therefore enjoin Nigerians to intensify self-responsibility to pre-empt the spread of COVID-19.
