COVID-19: Oyo Discharges 21 As Fayemi Condoles With Kashamu Family

Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, on Monday announced that 21 persons with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state have been discharged after testing negative to the virus twice.

The governor announced this on his Twitter handle a day after the Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr Wasiu Olatubosun, announced his recovery from the virus.

Makinde’s announcement also happened just as Ekiti State Governor , Dr Kayode Fayemi, condoled with the family of Senator Buruji Kashamu, who died from complications of COVID-19 in Lagos on Saturday.

Fayemi, who condoled with the family of the late Peoples Democratic Party’s chieftain in a tweet on his Twitter handle also announced that he was tested for the second time and had been found to be completely free of the virus.

Makinde’s tweet read, ” Oyo State COVID-19 task Force update for August 9: Twenty-one confirmed COVID-19 cases received their second negative test results and have been discharged.

” This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to 1441.

” Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for eight suspected cases came back positive.

” The cases are from Akinyele (2), Egbeda (2), Ibadan North (1), Lagelu (1), Ibadan South West (1) & Ibadan South East (1) LGAs. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 2868.”

The governor urged the people to keep following the guidelines of COVID-19 to.slow down the spread of coronavirus in the state.

Fayemi:s tweet read, “Back to the grind. Second test negative. I’m now definitely free of COVID-19. Thanks to all for your support.

” And my condolences to Senator Kashamu’s family. May his sins be forgiven and may Allah grant him Aljanah Firdausi. JKF.”
