COVID-19: Oyo, FCT Surpass Lagos As Nigeria Records 404 New Cases

Nigeria on Sunday recorded 404 new COVID-19 infections, with Oyo State and the Federal Capital Territory logging higher figures than Lagos State.

The latest statistics released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on monday morning, shows that the new confirmed cases were reported across 12 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As the new confirmed cases raised number of infections to 223,887 cases, the fatality toll increased to 2,985, with one more death recorded on sunday.

The statistics also show that Lagos State, which has contributed more to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the past few days, experienced a significant decline in the number of infections, as Oyo state and FCT ranked first and second on the log with 122 and 84 cases respectively.

According to the data, while a total of 211,537 people have been discharged in Nigeria, 9,383 people are still down with the virus.

The breakdown of the NCDC data revealed that Lagos (52), Kaduna (51), Imo (20), Delta (18), Kano (17), Kwara (16), Rivers (11), Enugu (10), Ogun (2), and Edo (1)
