Daura Regains Freedom From DSS Detention, Passport Seized

Mr Lawal Daura, the recently sacked Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), has reportedly regained his freedom from detention.

Daura, whose sack stemmed from the siege laid to the National Assembly by some masked DSS operatives on Tuesday, was reportedly detained after Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, ordered his dismissal.

According to Premium Times, Mr Daura was detained in a DSS facility located in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja after previously answering questions relating to Tuesday’s siege on NASS at Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

The newspaper quoted an anonymous source as saying the ex-DSS DG “was given his phones and released to go,” adding that “his international passport was taken from him.”

The medium equally reports that Mr Daura already has a case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over several allegations of gross corruption.

It was learnt that the former DSS boss was notorious for corrupt practices both while he was heading the Service and before he took the baton as the agency’s Director General.
