Did Davido Respond To Burna Boy In ‘FEM’? Fans Break Down Lyrics Of New Song

Music lovers are wondering if Davido’s latest single ‘FEM’ was his response to Burna Boy who was alleged to have taken swipes at the DMW boss after he released his last album, ‘A Better Time’, some months ago.

Davido and Burna Boy trended on micro-blogging website, Twitter, on Thursday, as fans tried to link the lyrics of ‘FEM’ to comments Burna Boy made on social media a few months ago.

Some fans believe Davido was directly referring to Burna Boy when he said in a line of the new song: “Tell Odogwu say we like to party”.

Burna Boy had recently released a song titled ‘Odugwu’. Also, the Grammy nominee’s 2013 breakthrough song was titled ‘Like To Party’.

Supposed Rift

Fans of both singers had every reason to believe that they were fighting a cold war after Burna Boy, in May, posted a cryptic message on his Instagram that seemed to be directed at Davido.

He had said, “You cannot play football, everybody knows you cannot play football and you are an embarrassment to the team, but your daddy.”

After Davido announced plans to release another album in July barely a few months after releasing ‘A Good Time’, Burna Boy shared another cryptic post on his Instagram story.

He said, “JULY will be very funny, and I shall laugh accordingly”. Davido had failed to release the album on the promised date.

Meanwhile, the genesis of Burna Boy’s seeming attack on Davido was traced to a Twitter post where Davido described himself and Wizkid as, “The 2 greatest of all time.” The pronouncement did not go down well with some Burn Boy’s fans who attacked the singer.

Davido’s Response?

Some fans who reacted to Davido’s new song ‘FEM’, which means ‘keep quiet’ in Pidgin English, believe it was his own way of getting back at Burna Boy for calling him an unskilled singer and an “embarrassment”.

Quotable lyrics from the song reads: “E be like you don dey talk too much. Small talk you don dey talk-talk… FEM (baddest).

“O boy you don dey do too much… Small talk you don dey look who talk, FEM (I’m the baddest).

“You wey dey find pitty, tell Odogwu say we like to party…just call me. You wan know 30BG, you go know 30BG when you see 30BG….Make una tell am to call me… Why dem come dey para for me?”

Davido added, “Before the matter gets serious, before the matter gets dangerous…you need to make sure you don’t say too much…Because if you say too much, I fit to run up on you…you see say I get fans wey dey para gan…i get men, I no dey gather boys.”
