Drama As Switzerland Eliminate France From Euro 2020

The Euro 2020 has produced another drama that has seen France crash out of the competition after a loss at Romania’s Arena Nationala.

Vladimir Petković’s men have now qualified for the quarter finals of the Euro 2020 competition thanks to a penalty missed by Kyalian Mnappe.

France, which led Group F in the group stage of the competition, were impressive against Switzerland in the second half.

Switzerland had opened the scoring chat in the 15 minute with a header from Haris Seferovic.

Vladimir Petković’s side were comfortable with the lead.

Ricardo Rodriguez missed a crucial penalty that would have elevated Switzerland’s advantage in the game against the world champions.

Just two minutes after Rodriguez directed his penalty into the hands of France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Benzema found the back of the net to level up.

A pass from Antoine Griezmann was also directed into the net by Benzema in the 59th minute to make it 2-1.

Paul Pogba also found the back of the net outside the 18-yard box to secure their third.

But pressure from Switzerland helped Haris Seferovic deliver a goal for his team to make the result 3-2 at the 81st minute.

Mario Gavranovic sent the ball past Ilors in the 87th minute but was flagged offside by the referee, a decision backed by VAR.

Another brilliant strike from Gavranovic in the 90th minute to level the scores at 3-3.

France’s Kingsley Coman hit the woodwork in the 4th minute of the additional time.

Switzerland however secured victory against their opponent after a penalty shootout which ended 5-4 in favour of the Swiss team.
