EU, France Condemn Israel’s ‘Demolition Of Palestine Homes’

The European Union (EU) and the French government have condemned the alleged demolition of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem by the Israeli authorities.

This looks like a strong criticism from Israel’s western allies.

The French Foreign Ministry criticized the Israel’s actions in a statement on Thursday.

“France recalls that demolitions in occupied territories constitute a violation of international law, in particular international humanitarian law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“France recalls its firm condemnation of the colonization policy, including these demolitions in Jerusalem,” the statement partly reads.

The French government called on the Israeli authorities to refrain from any measures likely to increase tensions further.

The EU equally condemned the demolitions stating such acts violate International Humanitarian Law and undermine efforts to advance durable and lasting peace and security, which both Palestinians and Israelis deserve.

The United State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, earlier said the house demolition in East Jerusalem damaged ‘Israel’s standing in the world.’

The development comes amid the ongoing fighting between IDF and Hamas of Palestine and Hezbollah of Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the IDF maintains that “Since the Hamas massacre of October 7, the IDF has been operating to fulfill its mission of dismantling Hamas and bringing our hostages home.”
