Edo Election: Obaseki, Ize-Iyamu Contest Inspires Huge Voter Turnout As Social Distancing Discarded

Social distancing was on Saturday discarded as voters turn out en masse for the Edo Governorship election.

The election is a straight contest between two kinsmen from the state.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu is the candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) while incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

There was huge turnout at many of the polling units across the state.

Our correspondent reports that at Oba Market polling unit, Oredo LGA, the turn out was also massive.

There was an impressive and peaceful turnout of eligible voters in most wards in the state.

There was massive security presence also in cities, towns, and villages to ensure the violent campaign rhetoric did not translate to election violence.

The restriction on movements across the state was also observed.
