Edo Election: ‘This Is A Major Blow To Tinubu’s 2023 Ambition,’ Nigerians React To Declared Results

Ahead of declaration of the final result of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, Nigerians have taken to social media to deride the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for allegedly failing to use his influence to win the election for his party.

This came as Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained a clear lead against Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC.

From results declared in 16 out 18 local government areas by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Governor Obaseki is leading Ize-Iyamu with over 85,000 votes.

The declared results show that Obaseki so far has 288,572 votes while Ize-Iyamu has recorded 202,525 votes.

With only two LGAs left, some Nigerians took to Twitter to mock Tinubu who had released a video calling on Edo residents to “reject” Obaseki and the PDP in the September 19 election.
